People who donate plasma for the first time should be willing to spend from two to three hours at the donor center which will include initial testing, a comprehensive interview and a thorough medical examination.
First-time Donor
Every first-time donor undergoes an extensive screening program:

Repeat Donations Required
For additional safety, Talecris Biotherapeutics holds a donor's plasma until the donor returns for a second donation.
If a donor does not return to the center in 60 days, the donor's plasma is destroyed. This requirement for a repeat donation has increased plasma safety dramatically1,2
